Putin’s Greatest Fear

Long-time readers know of my undying respect for the late Senator John McCain.  He was a genuine hero, who spent 5 1/2 years as a prisoner-of-war.  I saluted him!

Today, my respect is rapidly increasing . . . for a Russian, of all people . . . Alexei Navalny.  He is the charismatic 44-year-old opposition leader in Russia, who is described as “the man that scares Putin the most.”  He has been arrested numerous times and nearly died last year, after being poisoned by Putin’s secret service.  Following his miraculous recovery, he decided to return to Russia for certain imprisonment.  Tens of thousands of his supporters have taken to the streets, and over 5,000 of them were already arrested, including his wife.  Whether he succeeds in toppling Putin or merely rots in prison and dies as a martyr, he is a fearless hero, like John McCain.

I salute both of them!
