Seeking Help

According to the old Buddhist tradition of the “Three Wise Monkeys”, each was named “see no evil, hear no evil, or speak no evil.”

According to my late mother, bad things don’t happen if you don’t talk about it.

According to the Veterans Administration, every returning veteran needs counseling.

According to many existentialists, there is so little difference between life and death that the difference doesn’t really matter.

Last night, I watched Chris Cuomo of NewsNation interview a young American woman who survived the barbaric attack by Hamas at the Israeli music festival. She survived by hiding under dead bodies in a bomb shelter. When Hamas tossed a hand grenade into the bomb shelter, she witnessed “brains and eyeballs” in the air. Amid her tears, she said: “My eyes have been murdered. My eyes have been murdered.” Trembling, she volunteered that she needed psychological counseling, and I hope she receives it.

Despite her frail emotional condition, she was still strong enough to ignore old Buddhists, ignore my late mother, and even ignore the Veterans Administration. She was strong enough to seek help. God bless her!
