Anybody who has cared for an aging parent knows how difficult it is to “take their keys away.”  Hartford Funds has just published a helpful resource for this problem.  You can find it at:

Fortunately, “taking their keys away” may have become easier, by ride-sharing with companies like Uber and Lyft.  Only 13% of those over 65 have used ride-sharing, compared to 45% of those under age 30.  My suggestion is to get seniors used to ride-sharing early, with you riding along, so they can see just how easy it is.

In fact, if they know how to use apps on their phone, getting an Uber ride would be easier than finding their keys.
